Welcome to the Toronto Lords
The
Toronto Lords Basketball Association was founded in 1996 and is based
primarily out of Jarvis Collegiate. Bob Clarke, the founder, is an
elementary school teacher at Earl Beatty in Toronto and is also the head
coach of the Jarvis Bulldogs Senior Girls Basketball team.
Lords basketball is elite basketball for teenage girls. A number of the girls attend Jarvis Collegiate, but others play for high school teams located all across Toronto. There are currently five teams – a Novice Girls team (ages 9 and under), a Major Atom (ages 10-11), a Major Bantam girl's team (ages 12-13), a Midget girl's team (14), a Junior Women's team (ages 17-19).
The club is totally non-profit and a federally registered charity. In addition to our OBA teams, the Toronto Lords run a Saturday morning program at Jarvis for youth ages 5-9 which is free to participate in. As well, we also have a scholarship program set up for our graduating players, where last year we gave out over $10000 in scholarships to graduates to continue with their post-secondary education. The coaches and volunteers donate their time because they love basketball and the impact it can have on these girls. All of our teams are registered with the Ontario Basketball Association(OBA), the governing body of basketball in Ontario.
