Mini-Baller / Jr. NBA Program

The Toronto Lords Basketball Association’s Mini-Baller program, which recently partnered with Canada Basketball’s Jr. NBA program, is the perfect way to start out for your prospective future NBA Baller. Designed in conjunction with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) and the Toronto Raptors, it is a program designed to engage young boys and girls in sports at a very early age while keeping the fun and enjoyment they experience as a first priority.

Combining basic movement skills and basketball development, modeled after the Canada Basketball Long Term Athlete Development model and skill development model developed by Steve Nash and Canada Basketball, we have created a fun yet educational program for boys and girls ages 4-10. We run our program in three different groupings:

Learn to Play/Jr. NBA Program (LTP) – Designed for boys and girls ages 4-6, this is the introductory session for beginning ballers. With an emphasis on developing gross motor skills, sportsmanship and team building, while also fostering basic basketball skills such as passing and dribbling, its primary goal is to have fun and have kids learn what it is like to be on a team while developing a healthy attitude towards sport. It is recommended as the gateway program for all kids trying out their first organized sporting activity, or who have never played basketball before. The program runs 16 Saturdays (8 before Winter Break and 8 after), and includes an Official Jr. NBA Basketball and a Practice Jersey, and is taught by top notch Toronto Lords coaches.

The Winter/Spring program starts again Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at East York Collegiate (650 Cosburn Avenue, Toronto) from 2:30-3:30pm, and runs for 12 weeks until April 7th.

The Fall program in 2018 will starts again on Saturday in September from 2:30-3:30pm and runs for 12 sessions.

Cost: $160 for one 12 week session, or $250 for Both Sessions if you pay for both at the same time. Spots are limited, so if interested please register today.

Learn to Ball (LTB) – Designed for boys and girls ages 7-9, this is the second course in our intro to basketball Mini-Baller program. With an emphasis on basic basketball skills such as dribbling, passing and the basics of layups and shooting while maintaining a fun and pressure-free atmosphere, it is our goal to truly foster a love of sport in our participants, with some controlled game type environments. This program is recommended for boys and girls ages 6 and up, either who are just becoming interested in sports or have graduated from the Learn To Play program.

Ball to Ball (BTB) – Designed for boys and girls ages 8-10, this is the final stage of our Mini-Baller development program. This program develops the basketball skills of the child, working on the fundamentals of basketball such as shooting, passing, and ball-handling while also starting to work on larger team concepts and developing basic conditioning.

This program starts on January 15, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Elementary School (20 Portugal Square)
from 6:15 until 7:45 on Monday Nights. This program will run for 12 weeks and costs $100.
