This game consisted of a 10 point run that got us to with in 3points with about 4minutes left to go but unable to get over that last 3 point hump and Pelham was clutch down the stretch. Pelham went on to win silver in the tourney. All players literally poured it all out there and left it all on the floor, what a great effort against a tough team.
Our second game of the tourney, we picked up right were we left off in game one, with tenacious defense that smothered the Ancaster Magic. U13 squad opened the first quarter will a 17-0 start thanks to great defense and finishing on the other end. Ancaster’s zone D gave us some struggles in the second half but able to play strong through the latter part of the game and win 38-21.
In the last game of the round robin play, U13 Lords were faced off again Oakville Vytis. After a stellar start and a 10-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, the zone D challenged the Lords offense and slowly but surely chipped away at our lead. Lords struggled to find ways to score in the second half and lost 29-15. Oakville went on to win gold in the tournament.
U13 Lords were able to make the bronze final after great efforts against the tough draw. In the final the Lords played a nail bitter of a game. No more than a 3-4 point spread throughout the final. A number of players made key stops, buckets, free throws, rebounds throughout the game to keep the game tight and put Lords in a position to win it down the stretch. With about 12 seconds left and the game tied at 19. Ancaster was forced in to a turnover caused by a critical deflection by Jett on Lords and Pheobe was able to come up with the loose ball coming down the left side of the court. Going full speed maintaining a clear lane to the hoop, was able finish the left hand layup to go up 2. The remaining 8 seconds Kyra came up with a steal and dribbled the game out and the team rushed the floor to celebrate. Great way to finish a fun year.
